Track and field is available to individuals of all ages and expertise levels who meet a Paralympic qualification (i.e have a physical disability). Season practices occur Saturday mornings in March, April, and May in preparation for the Challenge Games hosted in Derby, Kansas on May, 12 2018. Additionally, Wichita Adaptive Sports provides scholarships to those on the track team to travel to Edmond, OK to compete with youth and adults from across the United States at the UCO Endeavor games held June 8-11, 2018.

Track and field is coached by Paralympian, Liz Willis, and is well supported at practices with multiple physical therapists who professionally adapt exercises for each individual person.  We also have opportunities available for both high school and college coaches to volunteer a Saturday morning to share field coaching expertise and techniques with our adaptive youth.

Kasey's Story

Kasey Nickel has loved being part of a team with WAS. She competes at an international level in adaptive track. By working with WAS she was able to help mentor the younger athletes by helping them with field events. She has developed greater appreciation of her strength and skills by being a part of a team. We love that we can have a team when we go to meets.
